The education and training landscape in
microsystems technology is highly developed.
The first degree courses and major fields of study commenced at the
start of the 90s. Today, there are more than 80 university courses with
varying degrees of engineer training in microsystems technology. Since
1998, potential skilled workers have been able to complete an
industrial-technical apprenticeship in microtechnology concentrating on
the major fields of semiconductor technology and microsystems
technology. Approximately 900 young people have successfully completed
this vocational training course; another 530 are currently following
their example.

Opportunities and new opportunities in the area of continuing and further training have been particularly developed due to the regional networks. These range from traditional and in-house continuing training for technicians right up to target group-specific further training seminars.
